Rental policy


Our rental policies are our explanation of what we accept and your responsibility when renting equipment from Alt Plein Air.

The rental applies only to selected items available in store.
A pre-authorization by credit card (Mastercard or Visa) will be required to rent from Alt Plein Air, the amount of the pre-authorization depends on the items rented.
When you reserve equipment with your credit card, the payment is taken as a deposit, the pre-authorization will be taken on the same card you provided when booking.
It may take up to 7 business days for the pre-authorization to be reversed to be returned to your credit card by your bank.
All rates are subject to change without notice.
The lessee accepts the designated equipment as being in good working order.

When booking online, by phone or in store, you agree to pay the rental. At time of rental, renter must present photo ID (driver's license or health insurance card).

Rental period

Select the date you pick up the equipment and the return date, if on the return date we are closed, you must select the next day. For weekend rates we have prepared special rates.

Don't forget you must return the equipment to us clean and dry, so be sure to take the necessary time.

Do not be late

If for any reason you return your equipment late, we will charge you a daily fee equal to the 24 hour rental fee. It adds up pretty quickly and we don't want you to be surprised.

Damaged equipment

The Alt Plein Air team has been camping and hiking a lot and we know all about the normal wear and tear that comes with use. We are not responsible for operation, performance and damage caused by the user. With that in mind, tears, stains and missing pieces, burn holes and dents, your pet's teeth marks, etc. are things we will charge you for. Our fees are $50 / hour + repair costs, parts, etc. If we are unable to repair the damaged equipment, we will charge you at the suggested retailer's price and you may keep the items.

Cleanliness is key

The lessee acknowledges having checked and noted that the rented equipment is in good condition at the time of taking possession of it and undertakes to return it in the same condition and on the date indicated on the rental contract. Remember, all gear must be clean (meaning not full of dirt) and dry (wet gear must have been opened to dry before being returned) . If you do not return the material clean and dry, we will charge you an additional fee. Mold can do a lot of damage and we don't want to charge you for it.


Lost or stolen equipment

When you rent, it is your responsibility to return it to us. If we do not collect it, we must charge you the rental and the manufacturer's suggested retail price.

Cancellation Policy

Make sure of your rental dates, as any cancellation incurs a minimum cancellation charge of one day
We can postpone your rental up to 3 months, if you ever have an emergency,
Some people book and cancel before their rental and this leads to significant administration costs for our small business.
